Wikia Green
The latest project from the people behind Wikipedia.  Wikia Green  is rapidly filling up with great articles on all sorts of environmental topics.  The Wiki model should prove a good fit for environmental information, since developments are frequent these days.

Green Jobs Now
It was a rainy day here on Sept. 27 for the first national day of action by Green Jobs Now.  Nearly 700 communities across the country held events to alert our presidential candidates to the importance of creating a green economy in the US.  Hopefully it's just the beginning!

Solarcone Green Cone Composter

Solarcon

The Solarcone Green Cone is like a black hole for food waste, right there in your own back yard!  Take that, Large Hadron Collider

The bottom part of the Solarcone is a basket that you bury in the yard.  Top part is a double-walled cone that uses solar heat to accelerate decomposition.  It is a fully enclosed system with a locking lid to keep out animals and bugs. The system takes all household food waste, including vegetable scraps, raw and cooked meat or fish, bones, dairy products and other organic food waste such as bread and pasta.  The Green Cone will dispose of more than 11 pounds of food waste a week, which is over 25% greater than that produced by the average household. The food waste is converted into water, carbon dioxide and a small amount of residue, without the need for mixing or turning the waste. In a well operating system the residue will occupy only the bottom 10 inches of the digestion basket after the decomposition of about a ton of food waste!  Read more about it here.

$160 gets you the whole Green Cone system, which includes the Green Cone, a compost caddy for your kitchen, one packet of accelerator powder, and a shaker jar for the powder.  Not yet available in the web store, but soon!
