Boston Under Water 350 Festival
This festival will bring the dangers of inaction on Climate Change home.  Gathering in Christopher Columbus Park on the Boston Waterfront, participants will build a wall of sandbags to illustrate the dangers of rising seas and stronger storms.  Also: face-painting, canoe races, street theater, beach and water games.

Hello!

We hope everyone is enjoying the arrival of Fall.  The changing leaves are particularly vibrant in New England this year due to all the rain we had early in the summer.  Fall is one of our favorite times of year here at Greenward--a great season for apple picking, bike rides, leaf peeping, and more.

This Fall is also presenting some notable opportunities to show that you care about climate change: Senators John Kerry and Barbara Boxer introduced a climate bill to the Senate on September 30 (the House version passed in June).  Debate is going on now and it's a fine time for a phone call, email, or letter to your representatives in DC. If you prefer to join your voice with others, October 24 is the International Day of Climate Action.  Wherever you are in the world, you should be able to find others showing their concern for the planet by visiting 350.org.  Check this month's favorites for some local events.

When you get done apple picking, writing that letter to your senators, and attending that climate action event, perhaps you will have time to check out the new items we have in the store...

Casabella's eclipse (TM) line is the most attractive and well thought-out line of cleaning tools you are likely to find.  They also happen to be made of recycled materials (soda bottles account for the green color of the plastic) in the USA.  All of the different tools, including a broom, hand duster, floor duster, and sponge mop are modular and can pop in and out of the ergonomic aluminum pole.  Replacement heads/bristles are available to ensure a long life for all the tools.  We also have their clever doormat, made of 100% recycled tires.  It reads "Welcome" when viewed from one side and "Goodbye" from the other.

GreenSmart Neogreene Laptop Sleeves and Bottle Totes

GreenSmart Bottle Totes GreenSmart Laptop Sleeves
Neogreene is a new material developed by GreenSmart.  It has all the great insulating, cushioning, and waterproofing properties of neoprene (in fact it is twice as insulating and half as heavy) without all the nasty chemicals (like VOCs and chlorine) that are used in the production of neoprene.  It also requires 25% less energy and 25% less petroleum to produce.  Right now we have Neogreene bottle totes and laptop sleeves, but GreenSmart is hard at work producing new products, so watch this space.

Bottle Totes: $12-99 - $14.99
Laptop Sleeves: $24.99 - $34.99
