This Month's Favorites Build Baby Build Build Baby Build is a new blog about renewable
energy with a mission to involve, not just inform, the reader. It includes a toolbox to help organize support for
community-based, distributed generation energy projects. There are community forums available for both Cambridge and Boston.
Kiva.org Kiva.org
is not a specifically environmental organization, but it's a great idea
that deserves publicity. Kiva matches lenders (you) with
entrepreneurs in developing countries. Each entrepeneur has a
listing to review on Kiva, describing their business plan and showing
how close they are to their financing goal. You can loan any
amount to the recipient of your choice. Once it's paid back (they
have a very high rate of repayment), you can loan to someone else,
donate the funds to Kiva, or withdraw.

Hello!
Now Open! We have been open in our new location at 1764 Massachusetts Avenue since February 6. It's been great so far, and thanks to all of you who have come to see the new space.
In just a month, we went from this:
to this:
Our
ability to do so much so fast was due to help from many good
friends. Our undying gratitude goes out to everyone who helped
us, including: Craig Bostick, Chris Braiotta, Stacie Dolin, Barry
Duncan, Scott Flaherty, Jeff Flemming, George from UPS, Jen Godfrey,
Alison Gordon, Marla Greenman, Jerry MacDonald, Briana Ross, Dave
Sakowski, Simon and Mardie Shapiro of Tags Hardware, and our employees Jason Arledge, Cara Callahan, Sarah Knox, and Laura Webster.
If
the lure of the best of everything eco-friendly is not enough to get
you to visit us, maybe our modern masterpiece of murals will entice
you. The fabulous mural was painted using non-toxic Mythic paints
from Tags by our friend Craig Bostick. You really need to see it in person to appreciate it, but you can click on the image below for a taste.

Grand Opening Party: Thursday, March 12 from 6pm - 8pm To
celebrate the opening of the new store, we are throwing a grand opening
shindig. If you're getting this email, you're invited!
We'll send out another email with the details, but mark your calendars
and join us for festivities and treats from like-minded local
businesses.
New Stuff: We
have lots of new products--many more than we have room to show in this
newsletter--and are getting more every day, many suggested by our
customers. To see them all, stop by the store and have a
look. You can also keep your eyes on our web store's "New" category to see the latest additions.

Toys from Maple Landmark
|
These
are some classic wooden toys for babies and young children from Maple
Landmark. All of these toys are made with sustainably harvested
Vermont maple in Middlebury, VT. Maple Landmark gives their wood
scraps away as kindling, while their sawdust
is used as bedding by local farmers. They take buying locally
seriously--only 1% of their materials come from foreign suppliers.
All
of the items we have currently, with the exception of the whey-finish
rattle, are totally unfinished--just sanded maple and nothing
else. The maple teething rings come with a strong recommendation
from one of our regular customers. Follow the links for more
details and to buy on-line:
Whey Finish Rattle, $10; Shape Sorter Bench, $19; Maple Teethers (pack of 2), $15; My First Blocks, $26; Hybrid Car, $5.50; Recycling Truck, $5.50
