Greenward's July Favorites Local Harvest Summer
is here, with plenty of opportunities to support local farmers and the
ever-increasing number of Boston-area farmer's markets and CSAs.
Local Harvest is a great resource for keeping up with sources for
fresh, local food.

efficient lighting and appliances for your home and business.

Hello Scott!
Welcome to the July edition of the monthly Greenward
newsletter. We have quite a few great new things in the store
this month, and we are also proud to introduce the Sale Rack! The
sale rack currently offers great deals on some of our Planetary Design
insulated mugs, Bambu utensils, Ecoist handbags, and more. Once
it's gone from the sale rack, it's gone for good, so come in to check
it out!

Greenward's got a brand new bag...
We're pleased to present a couple lines of new bags made from recycled and eco-friendly materials.

From
Alchemy Goods in Seattle, we have cool, durable messenger bags made
from recycled bicycyle tire tubes and car seatbelts. We also
carry their beach-bag style totes made from recycled vinyl mesh with
seatbelt handles--these are perfect for the beach or heading to the
farmer's market. We love Alchemy Goods because "every bag represents one less part of our world destroyed."

And,
from Ecologic Designs in Boulder, CO we have three styles of simple,
yet stylish messenger bags. All are made from hemp canvas with recycled
inner tubes to reinforce the bottom.

Spotight on...Perch!
We
have just received a selection of beautiful ceramics from perch!
All pieces are handmade in Brooklyn, NY using low impact materials and
processes, non-toxic finishes and byproducts. Perch! has been
featured in Wallpaper, Domino, The Boston Globe Magazine, and decor8, as well as both the 2006 and 2007 HauteGREEN
sustainable design exhibitions. We're crazy for the simple, elegantly
designed vases, salt and pepper shakers, and what must be the most
alluring bird feeders in any garden.

Spotlight on...Night Owl Paper Goods
From
Night Owl Paper Goods in Birmingham, "Owlabama" we now carry several
suitable-for-framing styles of wooden postcards. The wood used in the
postcards is sustainably harvested and has lots of flex so the cards
won't get broken in the mail. But the designs are so sweet--you'll want
to keep them all to yourself!

Bulb Bargains!
|
Thanks to a generous subsidy from NSTAR and the Northeast ENERGY STAR®
Lighting and Appliance Initiative, Greenward is happy to offer a great
deal on energy efficient compact fluorescent light bulbs (otherwise
known as CFLs). CFLs are a great way to reduce your electricity
usage--they are 70% more efficient than incandescent bulbs and last for
years. All the bulbs that we use in the store are CFLs.
We have four styles of bulbs available: 13 watt (60 watt equivalent), 18 watt (75 watt), and 23 watt (100 watt) bulbs are just $0.99 each. 23 watt dimmable bulbs are $7.00.
There is a limit of 6 bulbs per customer.
In
addition to recycling "technotrash," Greenward now also accepts spent
CFLs for recycling. Just drop them in the bin by the front door! |
|
| We hope everyone's enjoying a fun-filled summer. We'll see you in the shop!
Sincerely,
Scott & Simone Greenward | |
